Minimum Requirements
|
Bachelor’s degree in any academic discipline represented at the College of Charleston and 5+ years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in program development and management, preferably in higher education or the non-profit sector. Demonstration of capacity to lead and teach through additional training, coursework, certification, or graduate degree. Candidates should bring significant professional connections to the position resulting from sustained community organizing or experience in social justice and/or victim advocacy. Commitment to sharing theories of justice and equity is essential. Priority will be given to individuals with teaching experience in an honors college or similar program and/or advocacy experience with the 15-25-year-old demographic. Experience in first-year programming and a background in the social sciences is highly desired. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
|
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population; working knowledge of computing, i.e. word processing, database management, website/blog/learning management platforms, survey software; ability to identify, develop, and implement goals and activities that benefit the College of Charleston, the Honors College, and the local community; ability to supervise student workers; ability to interact professionally and effectively with students, staff, faculty, and other key stakeholders; ability to effectively guide students in their civic development; ability to support thoughtful academic planning by students; ability to prioritize, to focus on most important obligations, and to multi-task. Must possess independent judgment and initiative and be willing to learn about higher education policies and best practices. Excellent writing, organization, and management skills.

Additional Comments Regarding Position
|
Generally the position is a 37.5-hour per week job; however, must have flexibility to work extra hours on the weekends and evenings to supervise programming activities and to attend key events for the Honors College.
