Description You will serve as a Pharmacy Technician in a pharmacy division of the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.

This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

This public notice announcement is for a standing register for anticipated vacancies, and may be used to fill similar vacancies. Notices of Results may or may not be sent to applicants who apply.For GS-08, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
  • Directing proper actions of other pharmaceutical personnel based on thorough knowledge of pharmacy or pharmaceutical laboratory rules, procedures, and regulations;
  • Monitoring pharmaceutical inventory and controlled substances; and
  • Tracking pharmacy or pharmaceutical laboratory workload and staffing
For GS-07, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
  • Applying knowledge of pharmaceutical rules, procedures, and regulations to assist pharmacy or pharmaceutical laboratory personnel with related problems;
  • Performing technical functions requiring comprehensive pharmaceutical knowledge including identifying generic, trade, and chemical names of drugs, preparing compounds, preparing suspensions, and similar tasks; and
  • Interpreting prescriptions or doctor's orders to correctly input, fill, or dispense prescriptions and comply with appropriate controls and guidelines.
For GS-06, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
  • Training new personnel on pharmacy or pharmaceutical laboratory guidelines, procedures, and methods;
  • Identifying pharmaceutical nomenclature, characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms;
  • Applying pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and
  • Handling, storing, repackaging, and distributing pharmaceuticals.
For GS-05, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
  • Identifying basic pharmaceutical nomenclature, characteristics, strengths, and/or dosage forms;
  • Applying pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and
  • Handling, storing, repackaging, and/or distributing pharmaceuticals.
