Description
This position is located at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. The Electrician Supervisor has the overall responsibility to ensure that Electric Shop personnel accomplish their mission through his/her action and supervision. The incumbent has full supervisory responsibility for the training, motivation and direction of the Electrical Shop in repair, modification, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of all electrical systems and components.Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervises an electrical work unit that will provide professional work of a high quality and standard to modify, install, evaluate, repair, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain complex electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Implements the equipment electrical safety program and maintains the necessary correspondence and records documentation to comply with all regulatory requirements and VA Regulations and Directives.
Interpret complex blueprints and specifications and furnish technical details and information if not readily available or understood by subordinates.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic equipment systems, at times with or without the aid of any technical documentation or maintenance manuals.
The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the Medical Center has safe, reliable utility systems available at all times.
Maintains a plan for preventative maintenance of expendable/non-expendable equipment.
Coordinates preventative maintenance with shop personnel to establish preventative maintenance (PM) procedures, estimated labor and material costs, frequency of PMs, and critical levels.
Investigates work related problems associated with the work standards (e.g., low productivity, excessive costs), to determine causes and reports to supervisor either verbally or in a written report.
Responsible for oversight of all contracts for the Electrical Shop including development of new contracts and administration of existing contracts.
Monitors construction practices and directs the attention of contractors and contracting officer's representatives to any deviation from the contract or standard practices.
Invoice tracking reports and a copy of all invoices certified for payment, and Fiscal requests/approvals.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with invoice validation processes before invoices are certified.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Physical Requirements
: The work of the position requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifting and carrying of tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds and, less often, up to 40 pounds. The work of this position is performed both inside and outside. The person in this position is sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 feet or more; and in close quarters such as manholes and attics. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary devices such as electrical motors; and is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
Driver's License:
The incumbent must have a current, valid driver's license

Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
