How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans?This Secretary position within Social Work Service receives schedules, refers and contacts members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public. Receives all visitors and telephone calls to Social Work Service. Incumbent generally personally handles these requests for information. A significant amount of time is spent in public contact work because the program/mission of the organization is so interlocked with other organizations or agencies. Acts as liaison to other managers and staff within the organization and provides accurate advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters necessary to implement the supervisor's policies, directives, and instructions.

Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports. memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Performs the following types of duties: edits letters,composes letters and responses, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, develops standards or form letters and replies to inquiries. Provides general clerical mail and correspondence services such as preparing a variety of recurring reports.

Schedules appointments. coordinates meetings. and/or schedules conferences.

Serves as the timekeeper for Social Work Service.

Responsible for accuracy of timecards and for maintenance and resolution of pay period exceptions. Prepares and maintains anpropriate forms for human resources actions to include entry in WebHR for separations, recruitements, change in pay status, name changes, etc.

Obtains and monitors the use or services, supplies or equipment for the office. Provides general office supply and equipment support.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS-5 grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
