 CBET support to perform installation, maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment.

Duties: to include but not limited to:

  • Conduct inspection of medical, dental and laboratory equipment to determine condition and needed repairs
  • Perform installation maintenance, overhauls, repairs and testing of various medical, dental and laboratory equipment
  • Troubleshoot causes of equipment malfunction, disassemble equipment, repair or replace faulty parts or components and aligns, calibrates, reassembles and tests repaired equipment
  • Remove malfunctioning equipment from service
  • Complete necessary bench repairs to restore equipment to prescribed standards and tolerances
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on medical equipment

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be Certified Biomedical Engineering Technician (CBET)
  • Associates Degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology/Electronics or military equivalent
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or able to obtain
  • Current driver’s license
  • Up to date on immunizations
  • Knowledge of theoretical and practical application of electronics and electricity in conjunction with engineering principles of physics, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, optics and pneumatics
  • Practical knowledge of principles of electronic circuits, functions of electronic circuit boards and transistors, in order to test diagnose and repair
  • Knowledge and principles and theories governing the maintenance and repair of electrical medical equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems contained in medical equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic symbols, color-codes, descriptions and manufacture’s numbers
  • Skill in the use of electronic Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
  • Ability to interpret and apply blueprints, schematic drawings, wiring diagram, liquid and air flow sheets, technical manuals, and other specification, in order to locate malfunctions, make reparations, and ensure equipment is operating safely and properly
  • Ability to make mathematical computations, using algebraic expressions and shop formulas
  • Ability to use hand tolls common to the occupation
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret related Federal, State, Local, Military and TJC standards and regulatory requirements applicable to the maintenance of biomedical devices
  • Ability to use computers, knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, network infrastructures and security protocols.
